Macon, GA – Woman Killed in Tractor-Trailer Accident on I-75
Macon, GA (August 29, 2021) – Around 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, a woman was killed in a tractor-trailer accident on a highway in Macon.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-75 around the area of Hartley Bridge Road. A tractor-trailer came to a stop on the highway and was disabled when the driver of a Kia Sorento did not see the truck and crashed into its rear. The Sorento was badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver and the passenger in the Kia were rushed to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The passenger, who has since been identified as a 32-year-old woman, was pronounced dead while there.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
