Macon, GA – Update: Man Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Mercer University Dr
Macon, GA (May 23, 2021) – On Friday morning, May 21, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Macon. He has since been identified by police.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened at 3000 Mercer University Drive. A pedestrian was walking in the area when he was suddenly struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. When officers arrived, they did not see the pedestrian and struck him a second time but at a low speed. It is believed that the initial vehicle that struck the pedestrian was dark in color and heading west.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help the victim. The pedestrian, identified as a 64-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
