Macon, GA – Three Hurt in Tractor-Trailer Wreck on I-475 SB
Macon, GA (August 25, 2021) – On Wednesday afternoon, August 25, a truck accident causing injuries occurred on a busy highway in the Macon area.
Georgia State Patrol troopers confirmed that a semi-truck overturned in a ditch on Interstate 475 southbound past exit 3. The truck reportedly hit a car right before leaving the roadway around 3:00 p.m.
According to GSP’s initial investigation, a Ford Escape was driving in the right lane of I-475 when the driver of a 2016 Freightliner attempted to go around the Escape.
As the truck driver changed to the middle lane, another 2017 Volvo tractor-trailer struck his big rig. The impact caused both trucks to hit the Ford Escape.
The drivers of all three vehicles sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and paramedics transported them to area hospitals via ambulance. Authorities did not provide details on their current conditions, however.
The accident has still backed up traffic, and crews are working to clear the scene. The investigation into the cause of the wreck is ongoing.
