Macon, GA – Hit-and-Run Truck Accident on Pio Nono Ave
Macon, GA (November 22, 2021) – At 3:46 a.m. on Sunday morning, November 21, a hit-and-run truck accident occurred on a roadway in Macon.
According to Bibb County officials, the accident happened on Pio Nono Avenue around the area of Broadway. A 47-year-old man was driving a Freightliner truck in the area and traveling north when he suddenly slammed into the back of a Honda Accord being driven by a 25-year-old man from Warner Robins. The driver of the truck did not stop at the scene and continued onward.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The 25-year-old Honda driver was rushed to Atrium Health Navicent and has been listed in critical condition.
Police later found the truck abandoned on Houston Avenue. They identified the driver and made an arrest. He has since been charged with serious injury by vehicle and hit-and-run.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
