Lula, GA – Head-on Collision with Serious Injuries on SR-52
Lula, GA (December 30, 2022) – A woman was severely injured in a head-on collision that took place on a major roadway in Lula and involved a DUI driver on Tuesday evening, December 27.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened around 5:16 p.m. on SR-52 near the area of Breezy Lane. Police confirmed that a 53-year-old man was traveling west on the roadway in a Ford F-250 while a 34-year-old woman was traveling east in a Toyota Highlander. The man failed to maintain his lane, crossing into the other lane of traffic and striking the Highlander head-on. Both vehicles sustained immense damage as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The female driver was severely injured and rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment. Her passenger sustained minor injuries and was also hospitalized.
The driver of the Ford sustained injuries but refused treatment. He has since been arrested on charges of DUI, failing to maintain his lane, and causing serious injuries by vehicle.
The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the collision continues at this time.
