Loganville, GA – Fatal Pedestrian Accident at Oak Grove Rd & Henderson Lake Dr
Loganville, GA (September 24, 2021) – On Thursday, September 23, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred at an intersection in Loganville.
According to Gwinnett County Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Oak Grove Road and Henderson Lake Drive. A 60-year-old male Gwinnett County Water Resource employee was directing traffic around a construction site at the time. He was suddenly struck by a driver in the area, who fled the scene without stopping.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene of the accident. The 60-year-old employee was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim was later identified by police. They were identified as a 44-year-old Loganville man. The driver received numerous charges including first-degree vehicular homicide, hit-and-run, DUI, and reckless driving.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for some time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
