Lithia Springs, GA – Truck Accident in EB Lanes of I-20 Near Thornton Rd
Lithia Springs, GA (July 16, 2021) – At 5:26 p.m. on the evening of Friday, July 16, a truck accident with injuries occurred in Lithia Springs.
According to Cobb County officials, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-20 around the area of exit 44, Thornton Road. A tractor-trailer was traveling in the area when it collided with a passenger vehicle. The vehicles involved in the crash were badly damaged as a result. The vehicles had to be removed from the scene by tow trucks.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were called to the scene to help those with injuries. One or more victims were hospitalized with injuries, though their conditions are not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time until police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
