Lithia Springs, GA – Train Accident Injures One Near Hyde St & Temple St Intersection
Lithia Springs, GA (October 5, 2022) – Around 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, October 5, a train accident with injuries occurred on the railroad tracks near Lithia Springs.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on the railroad tracks near the intersection of Hyde Street and Temple Street. A Toyota 4Runner was traveling near the intersection when the driver started to cross the railroad tracks. A train was unable to stop in time, slamming into the driver’s side of the vehicle and causing it to overturn. The train was allegedly traveling from New York to New Orleans at the time.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Toyota was rushed to WellStar Kennestone Hospital by medical helicopter for treatment of severe injuries. He has since been identified as 42-year-old Jeremiah Locket.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection until the scene was cleared.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues. Police will update with more information as it is available.
