Lithia Springs, GA – Car Accident in WB Lanes of I-20 Near Thornton Rd
Lithia Springs, GA (September 13, 2021) – At 2:10 p.m. on the afternoon of Monday, September 13, a car accident occurred in Lithia Springs.
According to Cobb County officials, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-20 around the area of exit 44, Thornton Road. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when one or more lost control, causing them to collide with each other. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were injured in the accident. The injured victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions are not known at this time.
Three left lanes of traffic were blocked for a period of time until police were able to fully clear the scene. They urged those in the area to use Highway 78 as an alternate route.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
