Leesburg, GA – Two Killed in Fatal Car Accident on Philema Rd
Leesburg, GA (July 29, 2021) – Around 8 a.m. on Thursday morning, July 29, a fatal car accident occurred on a roadway in Leesburg.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on Philema Road. Two vehicles were traveling in the area around Chehaw Park when they collided due to unknown reasons. The vehicles were identified as a Ford Escape and a pickup truck hauling a trailer behind it.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two victims, identified as a 73-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the accident. It is not known if any parties were injured in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
