Leesburg, GA – Semi-Truck Accident Injures Several on GA-82
Leesburg, GA (July 14, 2021) – At 1:24 p.m. on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 14, a semi-truck accident occurred in Leesburg.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on GA-82 around the area of Cookeville Road. A semi-truck driver was traveling in the area when it collided with a minivan due to unknown reasons. The minivan was badly damaged as a result of the crash and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those with injuries. Five victims from inside the minivan received injuries and were taken to local hospitals.
The wreck blocked several lanes of traffic in the area until police were able to fully clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
