LaGrange, GA – Update: Paramedic Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on I-85
LaGrange, GA (September 7, 2021) – Around 2 a.m. on Saturday morning, September 4, a paramedic was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in LaGrange. The party has since been identified by police.
According to police, the accident happened on I-85 around the area of the Kia Boulevard exit. The driver of a Kia Forte was traveling in the area when the driver suddenly lost control, driving off the side of the road and striking a cable barrier. Two paramedics arrived at the scene and offered help to the driver.
While the paramedics were offering help to the driver of the Kia, the driver of a Dodge pickup truck lost control and slammed into the back of the Kia. Both paramedics were struck by the vehicle.
A 32-year-old paramedic and the other paramedic were critically injured and taken to the hospital. The 32-year-old victim was pronounced dead while there. The driver and passenger in the Dodge were also flown to local hospitals for treatment.
Due to the severity of the crash, the roadway was blocked for a period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
