LaFayette, GA – Update: Child Killed in Fatal Crash at GA-1 & Wheeler Rd
LaFayette, GA (April 28, 2021) – Around 4:45 p.m. on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 27, a child was killed in a fatal crash in LaFayette.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the collision happened at the intersection of GA-1 and Wheeler Road. At the time, a gold Oldsmobile Alero was traveling north when it crossed into the southbound lanes and struck a Hyundai Kona.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as an adult female, was injured and hospitalized. Her 8-year-old female passenger was also transported but was pronounced deceased while there.
The driver of the Oldsmobile was not injured and remained at the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
