Juliette, GA – Traffic Stop Leads to Car Accident on I-75
Juliette, GA (June 16, 2021) – Around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, June 16, a car accident occurred following a traffic stop in Juliette.
According to police, the accident happened on I-75 around the area of mile marker 183. A Monroe County deputy approached a vehicle and found that the driver of the vehicle was wanted in multiple counties for fleeing law enforcement officials.
The driver of the vehicle pulled away and the deputy jumped in after him. The vehicle crossed through four lanes of traffic and the driver slammed into a concrete barrier while he and the deputy were still inside.
Paramedics were dispatched to the scene to help. The driver of the passenger vehicle, as well as the deputy, were injured in the accident. The deputy sustained a head laceration and the driver of the vehicle was hospitalized with a broken ankle.
The driver has since been charged with aggravated assault, felony obstruction, possession, and more.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
