Jonesboro, GA – Update: Officer Killed in Fatal Crash on Tara Blvd
Jonesboro, GA (April 21, 2021) – On Monday morning, April 19, an officer was killed at an intersection in Jonesboro. The officer has since been identified.
According to police, the accident happened at the intersection of Tara Boulevard and North Main Street. A 22-year-old Clayton County police officer was driving his cruiser in the area when he was involved in an accident with a silver sedan. The silver sedan was making a left turn at the intersection when the two vehicles collided.
The severe accident led to significant damages to both vehicles. The patrol vehicle came to a rest in a parking lot at Preferred Roofing and Tools. Meanwhile, the silver sedan remained on the road but was not drivable.
Both the 22-year-old officer and the 81-year-old male driver of the other vehicle were rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. The officer died while there.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
