Jonesboro, GA – Fatal Crash Involving Officer at Tara Blvd & N Main St
Jonesboro, GA (April 19, 2021) – At 9:40 a.m. on Monday morning, April 19, a fatal crash occurred at an intersection in Jonesboro.
According to Clayton County Police officials, the accident took place at the intersection of Tara Boulevard and North Main Street. Two vehicles, including a passenger vehicle and a police cruiser, entered the intersection at the same time. The forceful collision led to extensive damages.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The male officer in the cruiser was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Tara Boulevard was closed down in both directions for a period of time until police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
