Jonesboro, GA – Fatal Car Accident at Tara Blvd & Old Dixie Rd
Jonesboro, GA (December 18, 2022) – Around 9:30 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, December 17, a fatal car accident took place at an intersection in Jonesboro.
According to Clayton County Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Tara Boulevard and Old Dixie Road. Police confirmed that four vehicles became involved in a chain-reaction collision due to reasons that are not entirely known. Several of the vehicles caught on fire due to the accident, leading to extensive damages. Police later discovered that somebody ran a red light, leading to the crash.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One person, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Ten other victims sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized, though their current conditions are not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for several hours as police worked to clear the scene.
