Jeffersonville, GA – Tractor-Trailer Crash Leads to Injuries on I-16 Near Hwy 96
Jeffersonville, GA (September 2, 2022) – One person sustained serious injuries in a truck accident that took place on a roadway in Jeffersonville on Friday morning, September 2.
According to Twiggs County officials, the accident happened around 12:34 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-16 around the area of Highway 96. A tractor-trailer lost control due to the loss of a tire and crashed, catching on fire in the area. After that accident, a Nissan Versa and another truck that were headed west slowed down. When the tractor-trailer slowed, the driver of the Nissan Versa was unable to stop in time and slammed into the back of the truck.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those with injuries. One party, who has not yet been identified, was seriously injured in the accident. The unidentified party was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, though their condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area from the time of the accident until mid-morning, which led to delays until police cleared the scene.
