Jeffersonville, GA – Semi-Truck Accident with Injuries on I-16
Jeffersonville, GA (November 18, 2021) – On Thursday afternoon, November 18, a semi-truck accident with injuries occurred in Jeffersonville.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-16 around the area of Homer Chance Highway. A van was traveling west in the right lane at the same time as a westbound semi-truck. The semi-truck did not stop in time and slammed into the rear of the van. Both of the vehicles collided so forcefully that they went off the side of the road and onto the shoulder.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Both drivers of the involved vehicles were hurt and transported to Navicent Health Macon for treatment of their injuries.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
