Jefferson, GA – Man Injured in Pedestrian Accident at Legion on Lee St
Jefferson, GA (June 5, 2022) – On Monday, June 30, a man was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident in Jefferson.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on Lee Street in front of the American Legion Post in Jefferson. Police confirmed that the Legion was holding a Memorial Day service. After the service, an adult male walked out of the building and started to cross the street. He was suddenly struck by a vehicle that was traveling through the area. It is believed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Several local responders, including Jackson County fire crews and paramedics, were dispatched to the scene. The male pedestrian sustained multiple fractures to his leg, as well as to his face. He was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment but is expected to make a full recovery.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
