Fatal Truck Accidents in Georgia
Trucks are some of the largest vehicles on our roads, weighing as much as 80,000 pounds. This means that they are capable of causing catastrophic harm in the event of an accident involving any other vehicle that is smaller. Trucks are typically involved in injury accidents but sometimes take the lives of those involved. Every year, Georgia averages somewhere between 180 to 230 fatalities caused by truck accidents. If you and your family have lost a loved one, it is crucial that you speak with an attorney who has handled wrongful death claims in the past.
Fatal truck accidents account for 14% of motor vehicle accident fatalities that take place in the entire state of Georgia. This may seem like a low percentage, but it is important to remember that these accidents still take place in the hundreds every year. Truck drivers are supposed to pay close attention to the roads around them, and companies are supposed to follow precautions when hiring drivers to ensure that the roads are kept safe. There could be many parties at fault for truck accidents, which include the following:
- Truck drivers
