Hiram, GA – Two Injured in Train Derailment Accident in Hiram
Hiram, GA (November 28, 2021) – At 10:30 p.m. on the night of Saturday, November 27, a train derailment took place in Hiram.
According to Chattanooga County officials, the accident happened on the tracks near the area of Hiram on the way to Atlanta. A train with hundreds of cars was traveling in the area when the driver lost control. The lead locomotive and 88 total other cars derailed, some of which overturned. The train cars were damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Two crew members on the train were injured as a result of the accident. They were hospitalized, though they are expected to be okay.
The tracks and a portion of the roadway in the area were blocked for some time following the collision.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
