Hinesville, GA – Injuries in DUI Car Accident at Gas Station on GA-84
Hinesville, GA (July 19, 2021) – Around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, July 18, a DUI car accident with injuries occurred at a gas station in Hinesville.
According to police, the accident happened at a gas station on GA-84. At the time, a 40-year-old woman from Florida was traveling west when her vehicle struck a pump at a gas station and then ran into a pickup truck with a woman sitting inside it. The impact was so forceful that the pump burst into flames and caught both of the vehicles on fire. The gas station employees were quickly able to get the fire under control.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help. Nobody inside the pickup truck was injured. However, the driver of the first vehicle and her passenger were both hospitalized with injuries.
The driver has since been charged with failing to maintain her lane and DUI.
Due to the severity of the accident, the area was blocked until police were able to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
