Griffin, GA – Security Guard Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Sun City Pkwy
Griffin, GA (December 27, 2021) – At 2:45 a.m. on Monday morning, December 27, a guard was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Griffin.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on the Sun City Parkway in the area of Jordon Hill Road. Police confirmed that the driver of a 2013 Chevy Camaro was traveling on the highway when the driver suddenly left the roadway. The driver plowed into a guard shack on the side of the road, striking the pedestrian inside.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The security guard inside the shack was traumatically injured in the accident. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Police confirmed that the driver who struck the guard shack was driving intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was taken into custody but his charges are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
