Gainesville, GA – Passenger Killed in Fatal Head-on Crash on Tanners Mill Rd
Gainesville, GA (December 1, 2022) – A passenger was killed in a fatal head-on collision that took place on a roadway in Gainesville on the morning of Wednesday, November 30.
According to Gainesville Police Department officials, the accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Tanners Mill Road. Police confirmed that a 67-year-old man was traveling south on the roadway when he suddenly attempted to make a right turn. However, he was traveling too fast, and his Dodge Caravan ran off the side of the road due to slick road conditions caused by rain. His vehicle collided head-on with an embankment.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Police confirmed that a 69-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was ejected as a result of the accident. She was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes of traffic until police were able to clear the scene. This led to delays until the scene was cleared.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
