Gainesville, GA (July 5, 2021) – At 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, a boat fire took place on a lake in Gainesville that led to injuries.

According to officials, the accident happened around the area of Big Creek Park at Lake Lanier. A boat caught on fire for reasons that are not yet known. Four people were on the boat at the time, identified as two adults and two juveniles. The four people were able to jump from the vessel until fire crews got the fire under control.

Paramedics and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. Two adults suffered from serious burn injuries and were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment of these injuries.

The area was blocked for some time as police investigated the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
