Fort Valley, GA – Woman Dies, Others Hurt in Head-on Crash on GA Hwy 96
Fort Valley, GA (October 28, 2021) – Around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, October 28, a fatal head-on collision occurred in the Fort Valley area.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, a Fort Valley woman is dead following a crash that shut down several lanes of Georgia Highway 96.
Police say that initial reports indicate a Dodge Charger and a Jeep Liberty were involved in a head-on accident at 5:15 a.m. on Thursday morning.
The driver of the Jeep, a 65-year-old woman, died from her injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Charger was transported to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon. Their condition was described as serious.
It’s unclear if any other victims suffered injuries, though officers were still collecting evidence at the scene for several hours.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
