Punaro is a former Major General of the U.S. Marine Corps who currently serves as the head of the Reserve Forces Policy Board. He has held several other militaries and political positions over the years and is considered one of the most powerful and influential people in the United States Defense Department. Although Punaro was born in the city of Augusta, he grew up in Macon, Georgia.
Nathaniel N. “Nate” Holden
Holden, popularly known as Nate Holden, is an accomplished politician who was born in Macon. Holden served a four-year term as a member of the California State Senate and 16 years as a member of the Los Angeles City Council. He is credited with authoring several successful bills during his time with the State Senate and the city council of Los Angeles. One of his sons, Chris Holden, has followed his father’s footsteps and is currently a member of the California State Assembly while his other son is the Deputy Sheriff of Los Angeles County.
Kenneth Wayne Shamrock
Shamrock is a former wrestler and MMA fighter who hails from the city of Macon, Georgia. Although his mixed martial arts and kickboxing days are far behind him, he still has a professional wrestling contract tying him to Impact Wrestling. As a member of the UFC Hall of Fame, Shamrock also made groundbreaking wins during his wrestling days at WWF/E and is considered one of the greatest fighters in MMA history. Shamrock currently works as a bare-knuckle boxing promoter and lives in Reno, Nevada.
Rufus Wayne Youngblood, Jr.
Youngblood is a native of Macon city who is remembered for his heroic act during the infamous assassination of President J.F. Kennedy when he shielded Lyndon B. Johnson, the then U.S. vice president, using his body. He would go on to become the head of White House detail and later the director of the U.S. Secret Service.
