Since its inception, Columbus has been one of the most prominent residential communities in Georgia. Currently, the city is home to at least 50 well-established neighborhoods that are home to people from all walks of life including famous athletes, politicians, and actors.

John Stith Pemberton
Pemberton was a famous pharmacist and war veteran who is mostly remembered as the man who invented Coca-Cola. Originally from Knoxville, Georgia, Pemberton lived in Columbus for most of his adult life and was an alumnus of the now-defunct Reform Medical College of Georgia. In 1886, Pemberton invented a beverage that was initially intended to be a pain treatment but was later altered to become what is now known as the Coca-Cola soft drink. After his death in 1888, Pemberton was buried in Columbus.
Donna Jeanette D’Errico
D’Errico is an Alabama born model, actress, and entrepreneur who rose to fame in the 1990s after featuring on Baywatch as Donna Marco. Earlier in 1995, she had been featured on the cover of the Playboy magazine as the Playmate of the Month. She has appeared in several other notable films including Brooklyn Nine-Nine, High Tide, and Kiss the Bride. D’Errico currently lives in Columbus, Georgia.
Megan Blake
Blake is a Malibu-based actress and pet lifestyle expert who was born in Columbus, Georgia. In 1983, she won the Miss Georgia beauty pageant and went on to represent her home state in the Miss USA Pageant later that year. Blake has been featured in dozens of magazines and television shows and currently works for the Animal Attractions Television channel on PBS.
Edwin Jackson
Jackson is a professional baseball player who previously played as a pitcher for over a dozen top teams in the MLB including Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox, Washington Nationals, and Detroit Tigers. Born in West Germany, Jackson lived in Columbus and graduated from Shaw High School. After enjoying a very successful 16-year career in Major League Baseball which included winning the World Series in 2011, Jackson became a free agent in 2019.
