Fairburn, GA – One Killed in Fatal Tractor-Trailer Accident on I-85
Fairburn, GA (December 9, 2021) – On Thursday night, December 9, a fatal tractor-trailer accident occurred on a major roadway in Fairburn.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on I-85. Five vehicles, including a tractor-trailer, collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known. The tractor-trailer was traveling in the area when it could not stop in time to avoid the vehicles, which were stopped in traffic. The vehicles involved in the accident sustained severe damages as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One person, identified as a 66-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene. One person was airlifted to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway was blocked in the area for some time. Police had the scene fully cleared by 10 p.m.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
