Evans, GA – Special Needs Bus Involved in Accident on Columbia Rd
Evans, GA (September 23, 2021) – At 3:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, September 23, a special needs bus was involved in a collision in Evans.
According to officials, the accident happened on Columbia Road near the area of the Bartram Trail Golf Club. The bus was traveling in the area when a vehicle struck it, causing the bus to crash and overturn. Police confirmed that a bus driver, a student aide, and two students were on the bus at the time. The students were fastened down in wheelchairs at the time.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Both of the students and one adult on the bus were taken to local hospitals. They are expected to recover from their injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident until police were able to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
