Evans, GA (July 2, 2021) – At 9:50 p.m. on Thursday night, July 1, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Evans.

According to Augusta officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Washington Road and Halali Farm Road. A 24-year-old man was on the roadway when he was suddenly struck by a black Hyundai Kona in the westbound lane after several other vehicles swerved to miss him. The driver of the Kona, identified as an 18-year-old, was not injured and remained at the scene.

Paramedics and numerous other local responders were immediately called to the scene. The male pedestrian was taken to a local hospital for treatment of traumatic injuries but was pronounced dead while there.

The roadway was blocked in the area following the accident until police were able to fully clear the scene.

Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
