Ellabell, GA – Passenger Killed in Fatal Car Accident on I-16
Ellabell, GA (March 10, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal car accident that took place on a highway in Ellabell on Wednesday afternoon, March 9.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at 3:14 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-16 near mile marker 140. Police confirmed that the driver of a 2014 Nissan Rogue was traveling in the area when the driver lost control due to unknown reasons. The driver then left the shoulder of the highway, striking a concrete barrier.
Several responders, including local paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. An 18-year-old passenger in the vehicle was severely injured and tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, whose identity has not yet been released, was seriously injured in the crash.
The roadway was blocked in several westbound lanes of traffic for some time as police worked to clear the scene.
