Eatonton, GA – Woman Killed in Fatal Bicycle Crash on Godfrey Rd
Eatonton, GA (June 1, 2022) – On Tuesday night, May 31, a woman was killed in a fatal bicycle crash that took place on a roadway in Eatonton.
According to Putnam County officials, the accident happened around 7:15 p.m. on Godfrey Road at the intersection of Glades Road. Police confirmed that a woman was riding her bicycle in the area when she was suddenly struck by a 32-year-old driver of a van that was making a turn at the intersection. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The 56-year-old bicycle rider was severely injured in the accident. She was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time. Police confirmed that the driver of the passenger vehicle was arrested. Their charges include homicide by vehicle, failing to give the right-of-way, and failing to use a turn signal.
