Eatonton, GA – Two Killed in Fatal Car Accident on Madison Hwy
Eatonton, GA (February 3, 2022) – Two people were killed in a fatal car accident that took place on an Eatonton highway on Sunday night, January 30.
Putnam County officials confirmed that the accident happened in the northbound lanes of Madison Highway. A 53-year-old woman was driving his Ford Fusion in the area when his vehicle suddenly crashed into the back of a Honda Accord driven by a 33-year-old man. The driver of the Ford was following too closely.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene. The drivers of both vehicles sustained injuries and were hospitalized. Two passengers in the Honda Accord were tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.
Police confirmed that the driver of the Ford Fusion turned himself in for his role in the accident. He has since been charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide and following too closely.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time.
