6/7 Ringgold, GA – One Dead in Fatal Collision in SB Lanes of I-75

Eatonton, GA (April 14, 2021) – Around 7 a.m. on Monday morning, April 12, a man was killed in a fatal head-on collision on a roadway in Eatonton.

According to Putnam County officials, the accident happened on Pea Ridge Road. A 16-year-old driver was traveling in the area when he suddenly fell asleep at the wheel on his way to school. He lost control of his vehicle and collided head-on into a Ford Focus.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The 44-year-old driver of the Ford Focus was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teen will be charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide, as well as failing to maintain his lane.

The roadway was blocked for an extended period of time in the area.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
