Duluth, GA – Teen Killed in Fatal DUI Accident on GA-316 That Led to Charges
Duluth, GA (October 31, 2022) – A teenager was tragically killed in fatal DUI accident that took place on a major Duluth roadway on Saturday night, October 29.
According to Gwinnett County officials, the accident happened at an unknown time on Saturday night on the entrance ramp to GA-316. Police confirmed that a 16-year-old female cheerleader at Mill Creek High School was a passenger in a vehicle that was being operated by a 21-year-old man. He failed to navigate the entrance onto the highway, causing his vehicle to collide with a concrete barrier.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene. The teenage passenger was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The male driver was rushed to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police confirmed that the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident. He has since been charged with driving under the influence, failing to maintain his lane, and first-degree vehicular homicide.
The roadway was blocked in multiple lanes at the scene of the crash until it was cleared.
