Duluth, GA – Officer Injured in Hit-and-Run Car Crash at Peachtree Industrial Blvd
Duluth, GA (August 7, 2021) – A City of Duluth police officer was hospitalized on Saturday morning, August 7.
Authorities said the officer’s cruiser was hit and severely damaged in a crash.
Officers with the Duluth Police Department said the crash happened around 4:00 a.m. on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. Around the time, the officer was traveling through the intersection at Abbotts Bridge Road on a green light when he was struck by a Ram 3500.
The suspect driver got out of his car and fled from the scene.
EMS arrived on the scene and transported the officer to a nearby hospital and was in critical but stable condition.
Another Duluth officer was able to track the suspect down, and the man was charged with DUI, reckless driving, serious injury by vehicle, felony hit and run, and more.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
