Duluth, GA – Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Accident on Buford Hwy
Duluth, GA (October 2, 2021) – At 6:30 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, September 30, a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run accident occurred in Duluth.
According to Gwinnett County Police, the accident happened on the Buford Highway around the area of North Berkeley Lake Road. A woman was walking in the area when she was struck by a passenger vehicle that fled the scene. She was forced off the road and fell into a ravine after the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The female pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed that she was walking alongside the road when she was struck by the vehicle.
Due to the severity of the crash, all southbound lanes of the Buford Highway were blocked in the area for approximately two hours.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
