Dublin, GA – Fatal Tractor-Trailer Collision in WB Lanes of I-16
Dublin, GA (November 30, 2021) – Around 12:12 p.m. on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 30, a fatal tractor-trailer collision occurred on a highway in Dublin.
According to Laurens County officials, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-16 around the area of mile marker 39. Police confirmed that traffic was slow in the area due to road maintenance and being directed to the left lane. The driver of a tractor-trailer in the area did not see slowing traffic in time, striking a second tractor-trailer in the rear. The initial truck then swerved to the left and the driver struck a third tractor-trailer in the rear as well. One of the trucks then caught on fire.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One of the tractor-trailer drivers, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not known if any other parties suffered from injuries.
The roadway was blocked in all westbound lanes of traffic following the collision. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
