Demorest, GA – Teen Injured in Truck Accident on GA-365 Near Iron Ore Rd
Demorest, GA (June 29, 2022) – A teen was injured in a serious truck accident that took place on a major highway in Demorest on Tuesday afternoon, June 28.
According to local officials, the accident happened on GA-365 around the area of Iron Ore Road. Police confirmed that a 16-year-old female teen was driving her Chevrolet Traverse on the highway when she suddenly switched into another lane of traffic. A Freightliner truck that was traveling in the area did not stop in time and slammed into her vehicle. This caused extensive damage to both vehicles.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other Demorest responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 16-year-old sustained injuries in the accident but is expected to be okay. The 54-year-old driver of the truck, identified as a male from Greenville, Tennessee, was not hurt but remained at the scene.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could resume.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
