DeKalb Co, GA – Two-Car Accident Causes Injuries on I-85 at Pleasantdale Rd
DeKalb Co, GA (June 17, 2021) – Officers with the DeKalb County Police Department reported serious injuries after a car crash occurred on Interstate 85 on Thursday evening, June 17.
According to information released by DeKalb County authorities, the accident took place around 6:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-85 around the Pleasantdale Road exit. It appears that two vehicles collided in a rear-end wreck just as rush hour ended, though the events leading up to the wreck are still unknown.
Paramedics and fire crews were dispatched to the scene of the accident, where they appeared to treat at least one victim at the scene. One more victim was transported to an area medical center via ambulance, but updates on their current condition have not been provided.
The right two lanes of travel were blocked for more than an hour following the collision, causing traffic backups in the area. Police reported that the two passenger vehicles collided in the left lane but the other details leading up to the accident are unknown at this time.
