Decatur, GA – Tractor-Trailer Crash on I-285 Near Covington Hwy
Decatur, GA (July 15, 2021) – At 3:57 p.m. on the afternoon of Thursday, July 15, a tractor-trailer crash with injuries occurred in Decatur.
According to DeKalb County officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-285 around the area of Covington Highway (exit 43). A tractor-trailer was traveling in the area when it was involved in a forceful collision with a passenger vehicle. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries, though their conditions are not yet known.
Two right lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for a period of time until police were able to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues at this time.
