Decatur, GA – Serious Pedestrian Crash at Commerce Dr & N Candler St
Decatur, GA (September 7, 2022) – On Saturday, September 3, a serious pedestrian accident took place at an intersection in Decatur.
According to local officials, the accident happened around noon at the intersection of Commerce Drive and North Candler Street. A pedestrian was walking across the intersection in a crosswalk. A driver was traveling through the intersection in a Ford and claimed to not see the pedestrian until the last minute as they were making a turn. The Ford struck the pedestrian and the driver remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was seriously injured in the accident, though they have not yet been identified by police. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
Due to the severity of the accident, the intersection was blocked in the area for some time. Police confirmed that the driver of the Ford was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
