Decatur, GA – Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-285 Near Flat Shoals Rd
Decatur, GA (August 27, 2021) – At 6:55 p.m. on the evening of Friday, August 27, a multi-vehicle collision with injuries occurred in Decatur.
According to DeKalb County officials, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-285 around the area of Flat Shoals Road. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when they lost control, colliding with one another. Several of the vehicles went off the side of the road following the accident. The damaged vehicles were removed from the scene by tow trucks.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were injured in the accident. The injured victims, who have not yet been identified, were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
The roadway was blocked in all lanes until police were able to clear the scene. Police urged those in the area to use I-20 as an alternate route.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues at this time.
