Decatur, GA – Injury Accident in WB Lanes of I-20 Near Wesley Chapel Rd
Decatur, GA (January 3, 2022) – Around 10:04 p.m. on the night of Sunday, January 2, an injury accident occurred on a highway in Decatur.
Decatur officials were immediately prompted to the scene late at night in the westbound lanes of I-20 around the Wesley Chapel Road area. Two or more vehicles were traveling in the area when one or more lost control, causing the vehicles to collide with each other. The involved vehicles were badly damaged due to the accident and had to be towed from the scene.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those with injuries. One or more victims were extricated from their vehicles and taken to local hospitals. Their identities and conditions are not known at this time.
Two lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene and urged individuals to use Highway 278 as an alternate route.
