Decatur, GA – Five Killed in Fatal House Fire on Janet Ln
Decatur, GA (December 14, 2021) – Around 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday morning, December 14, several people were killed in a house fire in Decatur.
According to DeKalb County officials, the accident happened in a home at 1932 Janet Lane. Approximately 30 firefighters were called to the scene to put out the fire, which quickly engulfed the home in entirety. Fire crews heard that there were multiple people inside the home and went inside to find the victims.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Four people were pronounced dead inside the home. A fifth person was pulled out to safety but was pronounced dead while there. Three others were rushed to the hospital and two people were treated at the scene. Two of the people who were killed were identified as children.
The area was blocked for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
