Decatur, GA – Car Accident on I-285 Near Memorial Dr
Decatur, GA (July 6, 2021) – At 8:39 p.m. on the night of Tuesday, July 6, a car accident with injuries occurred on a highway in Decatur.
According to DeKalb County officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-285 around the area of exit 41, Memorial Drive. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided with each other. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged, which led to debris scattered all over several lanes.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help injured victims. One or more victims, who have not yet been identified, were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions are not yet known.
Three left lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for a period of time. Police urged those traveling through to use I-75 as an alternate route.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
