Decatur, GA – Car Accident on I-20 Near Wesley Chapel Rd
Decatur, GA (September 5, 2021) – At 2:52 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, September 4, a car accident with injuries occurred in Decatur.
According to DeKalb County officials, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-20 around the area of Wesley Chapel Road. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when one or more lost control, causing them to forcefully collide. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims, who have not yet been identified, were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions are not yet known.
All lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police urged those to take Covington Highway as an alternate route.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
