Dawsonville, GA (October 11, 2022) – On Monday morning, October 10, injuries were reported in a DUI accident involving a wrong-way driver in Dawsonville.

The accident, according to Georgia State Patrol officials, happened around 4:20 a.m. on GA-400 around the area of Burnt Stand Road. Police confirmed that a woman from Dahlonega identified as Virginia Jarrard was driving a Ford Explorer in the area when her vehicle ran into the other lane of traffic and slammed into a Honda Civic head-on. The Explorer’s vehicle flew off as a result and a Toyota Camry ran into the tire. A fourth vehicle struck the tire as well, which led to extensive damages to all of the involved vehicles.

Dawsonville responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. Jarrard, as well as the unidentified driver of the Civic, sustained injuries in the accident and were hospitalized. They are expected to fully recover from their injuries.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time following the crash. Jarrard has since been charged with DUI, driving on the wrong side of the road, reckless driving, and more.
